About alis.io

The game, how it works, and how to reach us.

What alis.io is

alis.io is a free agar.io style multiplayer game that runs entirely in your browser. You start as a tiny cell, eat pellets and smaller players to grow, split to hunt or escape, and try to reach the top of the board. There is nothing to download and no sign-up needed to play.

What sets it apart is that players make the content. A visual editor lets anyone build custom gamemodes and maps and publish them as free hosted private servers with an invite link, and the extras other clones leave to third-party scripts are built into the game instead.

What you can do

Build a gamemode
Tune world size, split rules, merge timers, viruses, teams and win conditions in a visual editor, then publish a live server anyone can join.
Draw a map
Place walls and pellet zones with snap and symmetry tools, start from a template or an empty world, and watch the map update live as you draw.
Run a private server
Free hosted rooms for any gamemode, public or invite-only, with host controls over the match. No hardware to rent and nothing to configure.
Use the built-in mods
Macros, free zoom, multibox and instant replays ship with the game rather than arriving as browser extensions you have to trust.
Race a time trial
Server-timed solo courses, a first for agar-style games. Thread mazes, slip past patrol viruses and put your best run on the board.
Clip your best plays
One keypress saves the last 60 seconds of a match. Rewatch with scrubbing and slow motion, then publish the keepers to your profile.

How it is built

The game engine is written in Rust and runs in your browser through WebAssembly and WebGPU, talking to the servers over a compact binary protocol. That is what keeps late-game fights with hundreds of cells on screen smooth, even on modest hardware.

Every room runs on servers we operate across multiple regions, and the client picks the closest one by ping on its own. Live region health is on the status page.

alis.io is built and operated by a small independent team. It is inspired by agar.io and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Miniclip.
